Shell Oil Co. Complaint
Contest Scam - Free-Fuel Contest

Beware Shell contest cards. The marketing staff want your private ID data. If you win a $10 free-fuel card, you can't trade the card for gas at the local Shell station. You must send your private driver's-license data to a separate nameless company. Shell says it's to verify winners are over 18. That could safely happen if winners showed their license at the local Shell station (where the free-drink cards are accepted). Shell says it’s confidential. We’ve heard that before. Verification might be justified for the $2,900 grand prize. For the minor winning cards, it's a brazen Shell marketing data-collection tactic.
