Juniper Bank Consumer Complaint
Closed my account 2 months after opening it
I applied for and received a new credit card through Juniper Bank. I never received my first statement from them, so I was unaware of what date the payment was due, or what the amount was. I received a call from someone saying he was from Juniper and if I gave him my bank account number, he could have the $35 late fee removed. I was not about to give someone my bank information when there isn't any way to know if it's legitimate. I immediately went to my bank and scheduled a payment. I contacted their customer service area and indicated that I didn't feel the fee should be applied in this situation. Via 4 emails back and forth, I was advised that it was a legitimate fee and they refused to remove it. In this situation it did not seem to me that it should be upheld, but they didn't care that I had never received any statements from them AT ALL, EVER. I was advised that the payment obligation is made when I had transferred a balance to them when I applied and I should have known the payment was due. I called and canceled my account at that point.
