I love brie.
I love prawns.
I love a beautiful view.
All of which Cliffhouse has incredible versions of, hands down.

But the two main reasons I go to a restaurant are more difficult to come by than excellence in foodstuffs:

Ambiance & people.

Without ambiance, it might as well be dinner at Grannies, am I right?

If the people aren't groovin' like friends, why would I want them to serve me? Mamma told me not to eat food from strangers after all.

So, when I walked into Cliffhouse (as a vacationing "tourist" type, no less!) and I am greeted by someone who genuinely feels like she is happy to see and seat me, and I am served by someone who says he's here for anything I need, how can I NOT feel like I've walked into a home?

(Hmm..I guess it IS like Grannies house, except with GOOD food, a breathtaking view and no matted cats walking across the vinyl table cloth.)

Window seats. The view? Think Maxfield Parrish.

And then there's the brie, prawns, prime.

But wait! There's MORE??!

The General Manager, a card, calls himself Captain Kirk, comes bounding out to say "hello" and offer us some decadent choclatey thing to celebrate our anniversary..then bounds off to sing some karoke (shakin' it all the way) to celebrate his own company's 40th anniversary.

Anyone from American Idol listening? Check mon Capitan OUUT!

Even got a free anniversary corkscrew with my excellent bottle of wine.

Go.
This place rocks.
Tell the Captain the couple from San Diego who have the same opinions of platypuses said "Hey!"
