Battery guzzler - DCS-1050 10.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

I bought this camera as a backup, attracted by its 10.0mp. After test shooting it indoors, at fully automatic setting which most users will be using this camera, the flash washes out lotsa details. Covering the flash with white paper towel filters some of the overwhelming light. After just a couple of indoor & outdoor shots, the battery already showed almost empty. I then read the specs to find out what kind of battery is used. Not much help. If one plans to do a day of shooting, one should have several fully charged battery spares. That's the worst news to add to the flash problem. Also, the macro function is a joke.
