Bare Essentials - Bare Essentials

I went to the Ulta store on Rainbow Avenue in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was interested in the Bare Essentials products. My sister used the product and raved about it. The store was very clean and attractive. I had made an appointment for a make-up consultation. My appointment was at 5:30 p.m., and the store closed at 6:00 p.m. A pretty slim blonde was at the Bare Essentials counter. When I approached the counter, all of the sudden the pretty blonde looked at me and decided I was not worth her time and passed me off to another woman. This associate was very nice, but I noticed the make-up she was wearing was uneven and not very pleasant. I sat in the chair with excitement. I knew the make-up was a little expensive for me, but it might be worth it. Since the store was closing the associate rushed. I expressed my desire to watch her put the make-up on me, so I would know exactly how to apply it. She replied that the mirror I was holding got in the way and that she would just have to explain it. When she was done, I looked like a clown. I laughed at first and then I cried. I ended up buying the product, which I love. Through trial and error I think I have figured it out, with no help from Ulta!!!!!! Anyway, out of embarrassment, I never reported the incident. I will still shop at Ulta, but I try to avoid the Sales Associates!

I understand that Ulta does not have professional makeup artists. I think it is a shame the sales associates do not get paid well, but you are missing my point. The Ulta store should not be able to make an appointment for a Bare Minerals makeup application session, if the associates don't know how to apply the product. This message is geared toward management, not the associates. The associates are always very friendly.

I work for Ulta and crazy4glam is dead on. The retail associate that apply make-up have never had any professional training and do ususally (if they're lucky) only get around 4 - 8 hours a week at about $7 dollars an hour. Its obvious more money goes into product rather than people.

Ulta does not hire makeup artists. They hire minimum wage, part time sales clerks. If you want a makeup artist, go to a more professionally run organization. Ulta is great for picking up a quick product or two. Your complaint should be that Ulta doesn't offer a high enough caliber sales associate (which they'd have to be willing to pay for.) NOT that you weren't treated well. The poor kid ia probably only given 6 hours of work per week. What do you expect from her for $7 per hour?
