Bad food, bad service

We took our New Zealand visitors to Port Townsend, WA and ate at the Lighthouse Cafe on Water Street.
This was the worse restuarant I have been to in many years. The food was inedible and the service was slow. It was run by a woman and her mother. The woman was our waitress and then became our cook when some other people came in. The mother spoke no English and only brought out the food. They closed the restuarant 5 minutes after we got there but allowed more people to come in and be served anyway. Very strange!
I had teriyaki chicken which could not be eaten it was so bad. My son had fried chicken which looked exactly like the Banquet Frozen Chicken you get in the grocery store. The french fries looked like Ore Ida frozen fries and the onion rings were greasy. Only the salads were edible.
My son thought he was getting chicken with bread, soup and salad, which is what his menu stated but others had restrictions hand written in. He ended up with a toss salad first and then three small pieces of chicken on a plate later with NOTHING else, not even a piece of parsley for decoration. No refills on the soft drinks.
When I complained about the food and politely asked for a discount on the food, I was told tersely in broken English that I had ordered that food so had to pay for it. Needless to say no tip was given. In addition, customers at a nearby table also complained of their food to us.

These people have no idea how to run a restuarant. They brought the food to us one person at a time so the first person was nearly done by the time the last of us got our food. It was like they prepared one order, then started on another after that one was done. We thought 1.5 hours was enough time to eat but we nearly missed our ferry it took so long.

I can't comment on many of the dishes served at the lighthouse, but I regularly drive 30 miles for the kimchee and the potstickers. The owner has heavily accented English. (She comes from Manchuria, close to the Korean border.) If you work hard at communication, though, she is a very pleasant person.
