Bank of America sucks! Plain and simple. They reduced my credit limit from $30,000 to $3,000, which stuck a knife in the back of my business. If you have BOA ... do not try to pay down your balance unless you want to close the account. They will continue to reduce you credit lines to just above what you owe. Somebody has to do something to stop the unfair tactics that Bank of America uses to keep its upper a$$holes rich and continues to push the middle class into poverty. Now that I can't even rent a car with my available credit ... I promise they will never see another penny from me. My balance to credit limit has already f*cked up my credit score.

My second complaint is simple. Customer Service ... senior credit people .... straight up morons. You might as well call your mother for help. They are useless. You can probably google the script that they have to read to you. Idiots.

B of A took over my mortgage from Countrywide several months ago. Now I am being treated like a stepchild. I get no service from B of A. They cannot even look up my account if I go into the branch. I wanted to pay my mortgage at the branch near me, and they would not take my payment without the most current bill! I had my acct# on the check and still they would not take my money. For some reason they said they would accept my check without the bill when it becomes a late payment! This sounds like a joke, but I was the audience and didn't find it funny.

In the past year so B of A did two things up until this point in time... they Jacked up my interest rate on my B of A Visa card to over 29.9%, then they dropped my card limit from 8 thousand, to 1500... Last year I called them and asked them to lower my interest rate and the customer service rep at that time said no... He said to me make timely payments for the next 6 months then call us back and we MAY lower the interest rate. So I paid the card off, called them back 6 months later and they still wouldn't reduce the rate... They said I had to be actively using the card for that period of time not just paid off and not use it. What the "F"? Ok so I kept the balance around ZERO occasionally using the card as needed over the past 8 or so months... My card expired in June... I never got a replacement. My family and I are headed to Hawaii for a Vacation. Thinking I may need to use the card I thought I should ask for a replacement to when we travel. I called their customer svc line today (7/16/09) to have a replacement card sent out to me thinking I just missed in the mail somehow... Here's the hook, the rep grilled me about my other credit history, other cards, and other loans WITH bank of America. I don't have my Wife on my cards or my lines of credit, or my mortgage. Last year I took out a line of credit with B of A and that Rep told me not to put her on the application. Her credit wasn't as good as mine. My 20 thousand dollar credit line with B of A was approved for me alone. 1 year later... and because she isn't on my credit cards, or line of credit they canceled my card altogether. The Customer service rep said.. "sorry but we can't send you a new card, in fact because of your amount of credit line with us, and your individual income we are canceling the card effective immediately, and reducing your line of credit to what is now owed" I haven't defaulted on any cards, or loans with Bank of America nor have defaulted on any cards, loans, mortgages EVER. I have other cards with Chase and Discover that are still very valid... Bank of America just lost a 25 year long customer. I waited on hold, and spoke with a (so called Customer service rep) woman who just turned around and dumped on me as a customer. This really kind of pissed me off.

I am glad to see other people are having as much problems with BOA as I am. I made a additional error in my account and I contacted BOA to see if they could help me with the overdraft fee that were being insued, and basically told that it was my fault and I should have been more careful and they would not do anything about them because it was not a bank error. I went into the branch and see if maybe talking with someone face to face might help and again there was nothing they would do. I told them then after 15 years of loyal service was going to close my account and they said that was not a problem and good luck with my next account. What I find interesting is that this is the first time I have ever bounced anything and I even told them that but they really did not care. They took a very "corporate" attitude and treated me as if I were some low life. My new bank has welcomed me with open arms and is very customer service driven.

BOA totally sucks. They got themselves into such deep trouble, they don't care what they do to anyone else! I had 4 credit cards, 2 of them were not originally with BOA, but hey bought THAT bank too. I just recieved 4 letters, one for each account. They dropped my credit limit to just $35 dollars above what was owed on my 4 cards. Now, not only did they now drop me from 70,000 of available credit to $630, but they just maxed out those 4 credit cards. My credit score is now 730, I imagine at the next review, when it shows that I have $630 worth of availavle credit, and 4 maxed out cards, I'll be lucky if my credit score is 600. This should be illegal to put someone in a position like this. And just like one of the above comments...when I called to complain, I was basically told what a brainless spender I was, and they had to take it down to proect ME from financial stress! BS...My neighbor just LOST her card because she had NO balance, and didn't use her card enough! No one is in financial stress but BOA, and THEIR ridiculous spending is what is causing the rest of us to be punished!

Bank of America is the worst! My husband and I had to close our business back in approximately 2002 due to the weak economy. Instead of filing for bankruptcy, we wanted to do the right thing and pay off our creditors. We entered into a payment plan with Bank of America through a debt consolidation company wherein Bank of America accepted a monthly payment, disbursed by the consolidation company a certain date of every month, at a lower interest rate. Bank of AMerica was not the only creditor we entered into agreements with. Halfway through our payment plan, Bank of America just randomly changed the payment due date. The agreement in place was that our debt consolidation company disbursed on a certain date of every month and the companies accepted payment in a given amount each month on that disbursement date. Becaase Bank of America just randomly chose to change the due date, again, halfway through paying off our debt, our payments showed up as late for several months on our credit report. We worked with our debt consolidation company and Bank of America regarding this issue last year as we wanted to preserve our credit rating and things seemed to get straightened out regarding late payments showing up on our credit report. Last year, we applied for a student loan for our son through another agency and we were approved as co-signers. Late payments were not reported on our credit reports. However, this year, we applied for a student loan as co-signers and sometime between the time we were approved for a student loan in July of last year and now June of this year, Bank of America reported to the credit bureaus, once again, that there were "late payments" so we did not quality for the loan this year. Now thanks to Bank of America, and their wrongful reporting to the credit bureaus, we don't qualify for the student loan. All of our other creditors who entered into the repayment plan back in 2002 have not reported any late payments to the credit bureaus...as a good faith effort, they abided by our payment agreement, happy that instead of us discharging our debt, we paid it off. All creditors have been paid in full but apparently, BAnk of America goes back on their agreeements and just likes to screw with people's lives. Once again, I have to go through the maze of reporting disputes with the credit bureaus and sending Bank of AMerica a request to fix their report, once again, to the credit bureaus. Because they are the only creditor on my credit report showing late payments, due to their computer automatically changing due dates, I am prevented from getting accepted as a cosigner on a student loan for my son, whose school year starts in July. From the credit bureau information, I am told it can take 30-45 days to resolve issues. My son cannot now continue with his schooling and may have to wait to begin his next semester in October, delaying his graduation by 3 months..that is, if Bank of America fixes their reporting to the credit bureaus. If not, we're screwed. How can one bank's bad practices not be recognized by other lenders so when these issues occur, they omit any information given to the credit bureaus by Bank of America because in most cases, their reporting is inaccurate. Bank of AMerica goes back on their agreements. They get what they want and then screw you. Because of this, we should have filed for bankruptcy back then, had our debt discharged, and Bank of AMerica would have been out of all of their money and by now, the bankruptcy would not be showing up on my credit report.

ME TOO !!!! AND HERE'S WHAT JUST HAPPEND TO ME:
4/29/09
Health Care, Credit/Company Nasty Crunch
From: MaC, Carbondale, CO
Does anybody out there CARE??
I just had a really dirty deal pulled on me by Bank of America.
Background: We went into serious debt a year and three months ago
when I slipped on ice, shattering a leg. Being at an in-between in employment,
thus working part time, and my husband being self employed, I was uninsured.
I’ve worked conscientiously to pay things off on payment plans, and have
sought any assistance I could find. However, the hospital bill was so much
that I had to put it on a long term plan, that would increase by $10,000.00; at 12% interest. My past year contained two surgeries, and other extended treatments
to save my leg. In the midst of it all, I carried the burden of trying to
work out finances, so we wouldn’t lose everything we’ve worked for.
When Bank of America sent me an offer, in November, for 0% until
Sept. 2009, we decided that it would save a lot to put the hospital bill
there, to save the interest, and do something later, like refinancing our house.
At the same time all this was happening, my mother passed on; leaving no
more parents. This gave me a burning awareness of need to visit aging friends and family, in Canada. Along with that, after months of treatments and healing, I’ve been worn out, and have been excited about an opportunity, a Canadian cousin opened the way for, to spend time this summer, in my homeland of Canada (and yes, as one of my Aunts told me on the phone about my accident: “On dear, you did that in the wrong country). The trip is being financed as a family gift. I was going to pay for everything using my bank debit/Visa card. However, my bank advised me that I should have a strong credit card as back up. I didn’t realize, when moving my hospital bill (paid on monthly) that it would totally tie up my available credit; that I would be spoken to, as I have been, like I’m some kind of irresponsible person for having that much debt. I’ve worked earnestly,
paying and communicating with Bank of America, to clear debt in another account, to use as my backup. That account, which I had my physical therapy on, is down to $3, 428.48. Two weeks ago, I was assured, by a Sr. Credit Analyst, that they would not lower my line of credit if I sent a large payment to that account. So, in good faith, I sent $2,000.00 to that account, for my travel. That brought my line of credit in that account to $2,771.52. That’s what it was when I checked on it this morning. However, in the midst of this day, another Sr. Credit Analyst informed me that I have too much debt, and lowered my line of credit to $171.52. Thus robbing me of $2,000.00, that I would have in my own account, if I hadn’t trusted what I was told, and sent the money. What a sad day in our
country when we can’t trust what people promise any more.

Went to BofA in Merritt Island Florida today to deposit $500 cash in my sons account as I have for the past 3 months. I have always done this with his name, address, and birthday. They refused the deposit without the account #. Their reason was the biggest bunch of BS I have ever heard. They said if I was in a nasty divorce with my wife would I want her finding out I have an account there. I told him I was not married to my son and I would not need to deposit $500 to find out that info. He said it was a branch decision. When I contacted their corp. office they knew nothing of this rule to deposit money. They are looking into it. A few months back BofA had my daughter’s accounts so messed up I had to threaten to stand outside their branch with a sign stating what they were doing. Amazingly 30 minutes later they were closing her accounts and re-opening new ones. The following Monday an officer from their corporate office called to apologize and assured her that that branch would be getting further training. About 2 weeks ago she found out that they failed to close out the screwed up accounts and service charges had accumulated against them. In short stay away from this incompetent institution. If they choose to refuse you to deposit cash money into your account they could refuse your withdrawal.

oh my goodness, I think your Elaine was my Laporna because I had the exact experience with a customer service rep named Laporna and it was the worst! She cut me off and said the exact same things of how she was just saying things I didn't want to hear and she would not get a manager. I think they all get trained the same. I will make a mark and bank of america will get pay the consequences due to their customer service team. They will not do good in the near future.

I have been a Bank of America customer for years. I received the worst customer service from any business today in years from Bank of America. The agent named Elaine I talked to at 7.00pm kept inturpting me, was rude, sarcastic and racist. When I said I wanted to close my account due to this and wanted to talk to a manager, she refused. She said "Oh, you only want to close your account because you did not like my answer, not because of the customer service." When I demanded I wanted to speak with a manager, she said "if you want to, fine, but you have to be on hold for 30 minutes!" When I called back and talked to Ron Redford and asked him to close my account and told him what happened, he did not offer any apologies either. He said he can close my account immediately and send me a check, but no manager will call me back after I close the account because I am no longer their customer. Worst customer service ever! I will make sure all my scheduled bills are paid, this is reported to the Consumer Affairs and then close my account.

Shame on you for having a racist, mean, rude, sarcastic, unprofessional customer service.
