I am not a majic jack customer but I am getting phone calls every 15 minutes from the number 638-1811 which says "welcome to majic jack, the number you are calling is no longer a working number." This is insanity!!! How do I make it stop? These calls just keep coming all day up until about midnight.I now HATE majic jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had it for 3 years and it works great. It is not for those that can't diagnose simple problems. You need a HIGH SPEED internet. Even vontage needs it. I will admit that their ads are to simplistic and don't give you any facts.

The dial tone is very low and when I press in a # nothing happens. Have to use key pad on screen to complete a call and volume is very low. Please let me know what to do. It is set on phone, not head set. Thanks

I called people i bought from and told them that the magic jack only partially work intermittingly
and they said it was because i used a air card i told them all i was asked was if i had hi speed and said "i said yes-since my air card is hi speed" they said well partially hi speed? Unless you have a land line or hi speed wifi don't buy.
once you activate you have to pry your money out with a pry bar.

This thing is magic junk.More trouble than it is worth.I spent three hours on line and lost $90.00 dollars from my job to try and fix this magic junk.I am sure the tech was paid more than the $19.00 it cost for his work.I got tired and told them this was silly and suggested they just send me A new magic junk. You would have though I was trying to rob them. They said no but they were willing to pay the tech another three hours to try and fix it.It just does not add up for what the magic junk cost. Just send a new one and save some money and customers.Don't buy this thing it is junk and never works like it should.

WOW!!! I guess I'm stuck with, over priced, AT&T... I was thinking about Vonage, looked into it a little... I guess they adopted a little practice, of continuing to charge you... Even after you get away from them... For the phone number, they think they own,,, yours... Seems little good is said about MJ , but their was something interesting said, that "might" be a help.. More memory, & problems with fire wall, blocking JM... For those of you, that are having problems with Magic Jack...

I am thiking to risk and get a MJ no matter how others commented on it. I think 30-day trial is sufficient to judge whether to keep it or turn it back.

I bought the magic jack at my local Radio Shack about 3 days ago..It works brilliantly for me..Voice clarity is awesome..It rings when people call me. The onscreen control is awesome..It shows whos calling, they can leave a msg and it emails you the message in .wav format.I think people that dont like it either A: dont know much about computers and kinda freaks them out or B: they have a crappy ISP. I have fiber optic service that is 15mbps download and 15mbps upload and my magic jack works flawlessly. So Long AT&T and your $68 a MONTH phone bill!!!! Love this product!!!!!!

We just purchased MJ and are having the worst time getting this "simple" product to work! Each time we want to use the phone or have a call come in we have to unplug either MJ or our phone from the MJ and then retry the call. The person calling our home phone can hear us but we can't hear them. Our home phone will dial the number but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't ring. I don't know what would happen if we needed to dial 911!
I think we'll be returning MJ to Best Buy and doing the package deal with our local cable company.
MJ is good in theory but seemingly horrible in reality!

JCMeg56, what the hell is wrong with you? MORE regulation?! This is a private company competing with another private company. It's called Capitalism, and that's what makes this country great. Get over it. But no, it's people like you who want Totalitarian governments to rule eeeverything in our daily lives, and it pisses off the true Americans who are actually trying to earn an honest living. I'm currently in the military, and although I fight for your rights so you can say whatever you want, and I respect your position, if you don't like how we do things here in the U.S., get the hell out and make yourself at home in China, North Korea, etc.

I've had this POS MagicJack Phone for about two years now. IT HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY.

Dealing with their "Customer No Service" technicians that can only read and text from a cue card in a chat window. (You can’t call for any support of any kind)

Whenever there is a problem they can't fix, they try the same solution over and over and over undeterred that it will not fix the problem.

The audio/voice quality is POOR. Including on voice mail when it's not even plugged in and in use. But their ignorant technicians will have you check all your PC, router, DSL, and configuration settings wasting hours of time....when the problem is clearly in their computer servers and equipment. They deny this when my computer and MagicJack aren't even in use or plugged in, and regardless of how many different computers around the country and different connections I use with the same exact problem.

The bottom line is, it is crap made in China or some other third world slave country. It is not worth the savings when you can't receive important calls or hear the party on the other end, and rarely do I get a voice mail that is legible to understand.

I can’t count how many hours I’ve wasted doing chat text messages, which is the ONLY way to get any support from them, and did the same diagnostics and supposed fixes over and over to no avail.

As far as the cost for the device and yearly usage fee, it would be perfect if these things actually worked. But the bottom line is they don’t. I have both family and friends that tell me similar stories. Not to mention the huge number of internet complaints I’ve been reading online from other MagicJack customers with similar or exactly the same problems and complaints I’ve had.

It’s time to shut this company down. They’ve ripped off consumers long enough and don’t deserve to remain in business (in my opinion).

I think I’ll go back to Skype pre-paid VOIP phone using the microphone and speakers on my PC. It never gave me any problems and is still a good low cost solution for a telephone when I’m on the road traveling.

For now until my MagicJack account expires in October 2010, I have to forward all my calls to my expensive pre-paid cellular telephone. This is the only way I can hear people calling me or get legible voice mails on my MagicJack number.

I’ve been hard on MagicJack support for many months since I renewed in October of 2009 against my own better judgment. They assured me it would be “Better” and even offered me a replacement under warranty if I paid them another $39.95 for the privilege. Their idea of “Warranty Service” is to charge the customer another full retail cost for a replacement and tell you it is free. How stupid do they think we are?

I purchasd MJ a while ago and I'am having no problems up here in Canada.

I think the main problem with the errors are with the users. Many people haven't a clue how a computer or VOIP works.

I'am a computer tech and I can tell you that MJ will work if you (1) have the proper computer hardware and (2) have a fast enough internet connection. From what I've seen so far is that some connections in the US seem to be inadequate to handle MJ.

Instead of complaining educate yourselves and you'll find once you do that you will be able to get MJ to work for you.

Hello this message is for magic jack customer service

I was attempting to take advantage of your "free trial period offer" but found out pretty quickly you are a fraud and although this is supposed to be a free trial offer, you have the audacity to ask me for my c/c info.

Obviously, I am no longer interested. I am also notifying amazon.com as your "free trial offer" was posted on their website

thought you needed this honnest comment

I have had MJ for about 3 years now, works great but I also had problems with it at first but I found that it wasn't the device it was my computer. I had limited amount of memory, upgraded my memory to 2 gig and it works fine. I don't have a land line any more. You should really put the device on a dedicated computer or server to get the best service out of it. You have to remember it's $20.00 a year. Yes that's $20.00 a year so quit complaining about it.. If you don't like it pay $1000.00 a year and get a live. For me I say over $1000.00 a year and if it get's a little fuzzy then, well I can't complain it $20.00 a year.

What kind of noobs are you people?
I bought the magic jack for $40 at a store two weeks ago. I have a terrible computer. Acer laptop, 256mb ddr, celeron m340, 40gb hd,lol. And my magic jack works awesome. Sound quality, every number I've tried works (many Us numbers for my business), everything.
I live in Canada. Payed the $10 for a Canadian number. What can I say. The key to quality, comes down to your internet! I have a 7mb dl & 1mb up connection, seems to do the trick. Best money I ever spent. To think, I was paying Rogers $50 a month for unlimited us/canada phone line, ..... Jeebus Christ. Because Im a nice guy, here is the number to actually get someone live with you on the phone for magicjack. 281 404 1551. Listen to the message, and wait. The message keeps replaying not even letting you know someone will be with you live to help, but all you have to do is wait. And youll get someone. Then theyll bring you to the website, and get you in a live chat with someone who can solve any problems you might be having. The only thing I regret, is not trying this thing earlier. Its works crazy, for me at least, and I got a shit computer too. You guys are noobs if you cant get this thing working.
( Dont be downloading hella torrents when your making calls either, remember, the line runs off your internet, INTERNET .......... ) Good luck noobs :-)

We bought our Majic Jack about a year ago but just connected it last week. When we first connected it, the sound quality was actually great; our problem was dropped calls and seconds of silence to the point where you couldnt have a decent conversation with the other person on the other end.
I called their 24/7 help line about 8 times. Every time they tweaked it, it got better but not perfect. I finally talked to this guy a few days ago that showed me how to allow majic jack in through my fire wall. Thats what was blocking it. Ever since then, it works great. Sometimes when im far from my computer and im talking to someone on their cell, theres a split second break, but not enough to cease the conversation.

I paid 70.00 for 5 years; that includes voicemail, and several other features. I paid this in a month when I was with At&T. Im not sure why people are talking about the customer service, because I could only get ahold of At&t till 5pm every night. Im not sure how Majic Jack does it, but they have online people to chat with you 24/7. They walked me thru everything.

We are very pleased.
