These comments have been useful in helping me make a decision. I am currently a Vonage user and the service is great. The only reason I was looking at MagicJack is the cost. I see it is true, "You get what you pay for!"

It doesn't work for faxing. That's all I want it for.

I love my Magic Jack!! It has saved me over $800 a year and works just fine for me. Sometimes it cuts out, but you can't beat the price and all you have to do is redial the number and your back on. It's GREAT!

I have had MagicJack for about six months now, and I've had NO problems whatsoever. I LOVE it. It's enabled me to keep in touch with friends across the country. I can't understand why others are having so many problems.

Magicjack works just fine with Windows XP. It also works fine for me, I have 2 magicjacks and with my computer connected to a cable modem no problems. I think most problems come from not having enough bandwidth and not enough computer resources. You do have to tweek th eMJ a bit but otherwise it does work as advertised.

Someone stated it is not intended to replace your phone company. Then why do they run their infomercials as so? If I am going to switch phone providers, I would expect it to be reliable enough to replace my phone company (especially when they advertise as so). If it is not meant to do so, then the Magic Jack people are using false advertisement. I think this product could use some serious advancement in technology and some far better customer service. They may have gained millions of customers quickly, but they are loosing them just as fast. Time to do something to save the customers that haven't given up. I'm running mine over with my car.

I received my Magic Jack today. Install went flawlessly. I had read there might be problems because of Nero. Did not encounter any problems. Originally, I plugged Magic Jack in incorrectly, but after I re-read instructions and plugged everything in the right way, sound quality is perfect so far, line sounds extremely clear. I was paying $58 a month unlimited long distance with Comcast and people I called told me I sounded like I was underwater. That was Comcast with a digital line. Now I am paying $3.91/month with Magic Jack. WOW! What a savings! So far, very, very, very good!

Magic Jack works all the time for me. I just have to remember to keep my cpu turned on :) They have a 30 day free trial at magicjackphone.tk going on. It is the cheapest way to go and it works for me.

I purchased the Magic Jack for use as a backup phone, in case somebody is already on the main phone and somebody else has to make a call. I have it on a PC running Windows XP that isn't used much, so there is no problem with not having enough resources. The PC has an Athlon-64 3000 and 1 GB of RAM, on Cable Internet, and is mainly used for my wife just to read her email and do her online banking. So far, the MJ is working flawlessly. No dropped calls and nobody claiming they can't get through. The only down side was that we couldn't get a local phone number, but I don't think that's such a big deal. So far I am impressed with the quality, and you sure can't beat the price.

I've had my magicJack for only about a month. So far it's worked pretty well. I would rather have a modem phone like Vonage (or another) only because I just moved to another country and only have a laptop. I'm typically balancing my laptop on my lap :) and it's weird having the magicJack sticking out of the laptop. I have to be careful since it seems pretty easily breakable.

So, with my old-ish laptop (2gb ram) though it works as well as expected. I also have 2Mbps internet which normally tests around 1-1.3Mbps and I'm going through wireless and am usually doing other things on my computer. When I have a call, if I try to do too much on the computer then the call breaks up. Of course sharing the bandwith is not ideal so just close things or don't click a bunch of stuff.

If you live in a country where calls to the US are exorbitant like I do then it's well worth it. It's not too bad if I just get voicemails sometimes or can't always call someone when I need to. If I really had to contact my family and the magicJack wasn't working, I'd just Top Up my mobile and use that.

I have owned my MJ for over a year. Well, the plug in got dislocated from the unit. So I contacted their customer service live chat. They won't give you a real person to talk to so it takes a long time going through their live chat.

Here is my complaint. I was told to purchase a new MJ and they would transfer my old number to my new MJ and add the additional months I had left on my renewal to the year that came with the new MJ. WRONG!!!!!!

You can transfer your old number to the new MJ but you lose the year of service that came with the purchase price. Then to make matters worse, you lose all of your contact information. I was really mad.

So I took my old MJ to a cell phone repair facility and they repaired it. Works great and it was cheaper than purchasing a new one.

So if your MJ breaks at the USB port, it comes apart really easy and can be repair really easy.

Just my helpful hint for the day.
